Board Member Profiles

Fern Siegel, President

Fern Siegel has served on the board of directors of Jewish Family Service for 10 years and is a past president. She co-chairs the mental health committee of JFS which provides resources for coping and living with mental illness and seeks to eliminate the stigma by increasing community awareness. She also serves as an officer of the Special Needs Trust Foundation serving the disabled community and served as president of Temple Emanu-El in 1990. Fern is a graduate with a BA in business administration from Northwestern University and is a retired certified public accountant. She is married to Lee Siegel, a retired veterinarian, and has raised 3 children.

Judith Belinsky, JD, Vice President

Licensed California Attorney since 1982. Worked as In House Counsel for two retail businesses through 2007. Volunteer work includes: Pro Temps Superior Court Judge since 1995 to present, San Diego Lawyer Volunteer Program, Board of San Diego Jewish Federation including past co-chair on Community Planning and Innovations. She is an advocate for mental health laws and special education rights. Has a BA from San Diego State University (political science, sociology) , J.D. Cal Western School of Law. Judy has raised two children and lives at home with Larry, retired businessman and current tennis coach and their two dogs.

Cecile Jordan, Ed. D. Secretary

Cecile Jordan, Ed.D has lived in San Diego for 26 years. She has a Doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Houston and an Honorary Doctorate in Jewish Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary. She was Executive Director of the San Diego Agency for Jewish Education for 18 years, is past president of the Directors of Central Educational Agencies in North America, was a Director of the Texas Association of Non Public Schools and chaired the Minority Affairs Committee of the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest.

Daniela Levi, MBA

Daniela Levi is the Managing Director of Bold Aspirations, a management consulting and executive coaching firm based in La Jolla. Prior to launching Bold Aspirations in 2009, Daniela spent many years as an Executive at Deloitte Consulting, in the US as well as in South Africa. Her consulting expertise is focused on the people dimensions of business and she is recognized as an expert in the following areas: executive and leadership alignment, managing change, organization design, leadership and management development, communications, facilitation, conflict resolution, capability transfer, culture change, and shared services. Daniela received her Bachelors in Business Administration (BBA) from the University of Texas at Austin, her Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Cornell University, is a certified coach through Results Coaching International, and is a certified practitioner for Lumina Learning. She relocated from Cape Town to La Jolla in 2013 where she lives with her husband Delon.

Suzanne Marcus, PhD

Suzanne Marcus, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist in private practice for over 25 years. She practiced in Dallas before relocating to La Jolla in 1996. Dr Marcus has served as President of the North Texas Society of Clinical hypnosis and currently as president of the San Diego Society of Clinical Hypnosis. She has volunteered as an adjunct professor at UCSD, as well as to several Jewish organizations in San Diego. (UJF-Women’s division, Adat Yeshurun fundraising, San Diego Jewish Gift closet/G’mach.)

Hannah Moss, CSW, CLF

Hannah Moss is a California Licensed Fiduciary. Managing the estates, healthcare and social well being of numerous clients over the past 12 years. She was trained as a community social worker in Israel practicing in the areas of psychiatry and geriatrics. Previous to becoming a fiduciary, she worked as Jewish Family Service’s Geriatric Care Manager for ten years. Hannah is now a committee member of Jewish Family Service Mental Health committee, of the San Diego Caregiver coalition, and a board member of the Special Needs Trust Foundation. She has been teaching court mandated classes for family conservators for over 6 years.

Karen Foster Silberman

Karen Silverman is an active member in the San Diego Jewish Community where she serves on many boards and committees dedicated to improving the quality of life for vulnerable populations. She and her family, major donors who are devoted to improving our community, have made contributions to many of the social services offered to people in need, including seniors, those who are mentally ill, and individuals suffering from domestic abuse.
